Travel to Costa Rica: Travel Insurance Requirement

Please note, based on Costa Rica's requirement for fully vaccinated people (18 years and older) to visit public places, (i.e. restaurants, hotels) all Discover Corps' travelers 18 years and older must be fully vaccinated in order to participate in a trip to Costa Rica. No Travel Insurance is required for travel to Costa Rica.

  • Effective August 1, Costa Rica will allow entry without travel insurance to minors under 18 years of age and adult tourists fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. In the case of visitors from the United States, the “COVID-19 vaccination record card” will be accepted.

U.S. citizens must complete an epidemiological "Health Pass" and must provide proof of health insurance* to cover any medical treatment and quarantine lodging should the traveler contract COVID-19 while in country. *Travelers can purchase this plan via Arch RoamRight Travel Insurance here.
