Country COVID-19 Testing Requirements

  • Until further notice, it's Discover Corps' Policy that travelers take a COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of arrival into Kenya. Negative test results must be sent to Discover Corps once generated. Please check the Department of State's site for the most up to date guidelines. When applicable, local policy or Airline Policies supersede what is in place for Discover Corps. Please share all airline requirements with Discover Corps for testing purposes.

  • The country of Kenya states that travelers are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test before arriving. The test must be digitally verified through the Trusted Travel (TT) Initiative (www.africadc.org/trusted-travel). Negative test results must also be submitted to Discover Corps before departure.

  • Arriving U.S. passengers are permitted to enter if the following conditions are met: 1) The passenger does not have a body temperature above 37.5°C (99.5°F); 2) The passenger does not have a persistent cough, difficulty breathing or other flu-like symptoms; 3) The passenger has a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours of arrival into Kenya.

      • Incoming Travelers are required to have a QR code for a completed Travelers Health Surveillance Form which they can access from the website here. When they register on the website, the code is sent to their email.

      • The Kenya Ministry of Health launched the Trusted Travel (TT) Initiative: https://africacdc.org/trusted-travel/ . At this time, the QR code is for arriving passengers and the TT code is for those departing. Travelers can get the TT code with their test results from an accredited lab at any major hospital.

*If you are traveling from Kenya to Zanzibar, Tanzania for the extension, you will need to take another COVID-19 PCR Test.

Payment for the COVID tests can be made in cash in Kenya shillings (in Kenya), Tanzanian Shillings (in Tanzania) or US dollars, or by credit card (this may attract a surcharge for bank costs). If you chose to use U.S. dollars, please carry newer notes as many places in Kenya and Tanzania don't accept the older notes. Notes printed in 2008 onwards are safest to bring.

Exit Requirements

Effective January 26, 2021, the CDC is implementing that all travelers returning to the U.S., have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of departing. Discover Corps will arrange for the testing to take place within the required timeframe, the traveler is responsible for the testing fee. Please reference Discover Corps' Risk Management Manual for a comprehensive overview of safety & health guidelines here.
