At Discover Corps, we want our travelers to be fully prepared and choose the trip that will offer the best experience while accommodating all physical abilities. Please read the points below carefully to determine if this trip is the right fit for you.
Environment and Wildlife: It is very important to mention the unpredictable nature of both weather and wildlife on this trip. We do our absolute best to stick to the published itinerary, however, there is a possibility the itinerary will change due to circumstances outside of our control. Our local team is very knowledgable and will do their best to provide suitable back up plans should the itinerary change. Going in with an open mind and flexibility will ensure you have a great trip.
Accommodations: For two nights, you'll be camping on the protected island of Isla Espiritu Santo. You'll be staying in geo-dome tents. Please be mindful that windy weather conditions could inhibit our reaching the island by boat. Your safety is our top priority. If we anticipate poor weather leading up to the trip, the itinerary will be modified to accommodate.
Swimming with Whale Sharks: Fins are provided, but strong swimming skills are beneficial. The experience typically involves just a few minutes of jumping from the boat and swimming alongside a whale shark. While sightings are highly likely, they cannot be guaranteed, as wildlife encounters depend on environmental factors such as water temperature and ecological conditions. Swimming with whale sharks is highly regulated by the Mexican government. They retain control to shut down swimming with the whale sharks, with no advanced notice, if the whale shark numbers are not high enough.
Transportation: On day 1, there is a two and a half hour drive from Cabo to La Paz. Our main goal is to get to La Paz by before sunset for dinner. Arriving to Cabo a day early helps mitigate delays in transport on day one.
On day 2, there's a 60-minute boat ride to Island Espiritu Santo. Please bring sea sickness medicine, if you usually don't feel well on boat rides.
