At Discover Corps, we want our travelers to be fully prepared and choose the trip that will offer the best experience while accommodating all physical abilities. Please read the points below carefully to determine if this trip is the right fit for you
High Season: Bali’s high season runs from July to August and again in December. During these months, the island welcomes a large number of visitors, which can lead to heavy crowds at popular tourist sites and significant traffic delays, particularly around Denpasar, Canggu, and Ubud, as well as near the airport. While the experience is still enriching, please be prepared for longer travel times and busier attractions. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate the island’s vibrant but bustling peak season.
Getting Around Bali
Traffic in Bali is simply part of the experience. Though the island may look small on a map, its winding roads and bustling streets mean that travel between destinations can take longer than expected—sometimes up to 4 hours. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we make our way through the island. Each journey brings you closer to the heart of Bali—its people, its villages, and the incredible communities you’ll soon meet.
Our Purposeful Projects
Our community engagement takes place in rural regions of Bali, where we partner with small, grassroots organizations creating meaningful change. These partners embody Bali’s values of collaboration, creativity, and compassion. You’ll enjoy comfortable accommodations and thoughtful amenities, while also traveling to rural areas to spend time immersed in local communities—working alongside people who are deeply connected to their land, traditions, and future. This balance of comfort and authenticity is central to the Discover Corps experience, but please note that the travel time to these destinations can be 2+ hours each way.
Cuisine
Balinese cuisine is vibrant and features rice, noodles, vegetables, herbs, and bold spices. Flavors can differ from Western dishes, especially in rural areas where meals are prepared traditionally. While familiar options are available, travelers should be open to trying new tastes and ingredients—some may be mildly spicy or uniquely prepared. Guests with dietary restrictions are welcome, though flexibility is important as options may be limited in smaller villages. We communicate needs in advance, but encourage travelers to see meals as a meaningful part of the cultural experience.
Wildlife Encounters: Monkey Forest: During our visit to the Monkey Forest, please be aware that monkeys can approach travelers closely. While this can be a memorable and fun experience, guests should be comfortable around wildlife and follow guide instructions carefully (for example, securing belongings and not bringing any food or water into the park to avoid an uncomfortable interaction).
