Is This Trip Right for You?

Discover Corps wants our travelers to be as prepared as possible and choose the trip that will maximize enjoyment. Please read the points below thoroughly to see if this trip is right for you. Reach out to the Travel Coordinator, Colette, for any additional clarification or questions at Colette@discovercorps.com.

Accommodations: We work with a portfolio of premier lodges ranging from luxury style tents (think glamping) to safari lodges. The tents will not have air conditioning or heating. There will be fans or hot water bottles/extra blankets provided based on seasonality. Accommodations are based on availability and we cannot guarantee any requests to stay at a specific property will be fulfilled.

Seasons: South Africa seasons are the opposite of the Northern hemisphere. During our summer, it is winter in South Africa and vice versa. Dry season is May - October. Please keep this in mind when choosing your desired dates of travel.

Early Mornings: All morning game drives start at 5:30am and there are game drives most mornings. Early mornings are the best time to encounter the animals. Game viewing is a lot better when it is consecutive days to track the animals. The drives are staggered on back to back days. You are not required to attend all game drives but they are included in the price.

Vehicle Time: Due to the location of the safari and the amount of game drives, you will spend a lot of time in vehicles. The safari vehicles will be open air for your viewing convenience.

Start your journey by taking in the beautiful landscapes that South Africa has to offer. The first day of the trip there is a long scenic drive from the airport to greater Kruger where you will be staying. We take detours through the panoramic route which boasts amazing views. We will stop for lunch and view points along the way. This could last anywhere between 8-12 hours depending on the length of stops. If you arrive the same morning, you might want to change your clothes after getting off the plane and before the drive.

We highly suggest arriving a day early so that you are able to get a good nights rest before the drive. Please bring motion sickness medicine if that is a concern.
