We have very specific arrival and departure times for your program. Please carefully read the information below:
Fly into and out of Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (airport code: NBO):
You can arrive on the first day at any time before 7:30 am. (There will be a≈7-hour drive on the first day of the trip. We strongly recommend arriving at least one day earlier. If you arrive late due to flight delays, you could be subject to a late arrival fee due to an extra transfer.)
You can depart on the last day of the trip after 4 pm.
Arrival: same instructions as above
You can depart on the last day of the extension after 4 pm from Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ).
The international one-way flight between Nairobi and Zanzibar is included in the extension supplement. Discover Corps will book this for you. Please see the Zanzibar Extension page for more information on visa requirements, vaccination requirements, and others.
SUMMER TRAVEL & HOLIDAYS: Summer and holiday seasons are a busy time for travel, and flight delays are pretty common due to the number of travelers and summer storms. We strongly recommend arriving at least 24 hours before your trip starts just to be safe. If you arrive late, Discover Corps has a 24/7 emergency number you can call for assistance. Please keep in mind that:
depending on your arrival time, a transfer might not be available, and you may need to book a hotel for the night and be picked up the next morning
if you miss your scheduled transfer, extra charges may apply.
Discover Corps recommends that you arrive a day before the trip start date to avoid missing part of the trip in case of flight issues. If you decide to arrive earlier:
You can book an early night at the hotel directly.
You are responsible for the transfer from the airport to the hotel.
We can arrange pickup from your hotel on the first day of the itinerary if you stay in one of the recommended hotels listed below. If you choose a different hotel, you will need to arrange your own transportation to a meeting point in Nairobi on the first day of the trip. Please inform your Travel Coordinator of your hotel accommodations.

If you plan to spend some more time in Nairobi and would prefer not to stay at an airport hotel, the Nairobi Tented Camp can be a good option as well, given its location and the option to add some activities. You can book extra days directly with them. Click here for some information.
