About a week before your trip, you should have received your final itinerary and CISI Medical Insurance via email. Please review the checklist and make sure you have all items in order well in advance for your Vietnam: Cultural Gems adventure:
Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay.
e-Visa: All travelers must have an approved Vietnam e-Visa before departure. In 2026, the e-visa is valid for up to 90 days—be sure to print a copy of the PDF approval to present at immigration.
Insurance: Print your CISI Medical Insurance card (emailed ~10 days before departure) and keep it with you.
Final Itinerary: Print your final itinerary. It contains your 24-hour emergency contact and helps when filling out arrival forms, if necessary.
Money: Credit cards are accepted in major cities, but cash is king for street food and local artisans. Pull Vietnamese Dong (VND) from an ATM on arrival. Notify your bank of your travel dates to avoid blocked cards.
Airlines: Verify baggage weight limits for internal flights
Update your Travel Coordinator if your international flight times change
Tech: Vietnam typically uses Type A, C, and G outlets. Bringing a universal adapter is highly recommended.
Packing List: Pack light, breathable clothing. Check our packing list here.
Phone: Grab a local eSIM or check with your provider for international roaming. Connectivity is generally excellent in Hanoi, Hoi An, and Saigon.
Pre-Departure Call: Schedule a final call with your Trip Coordinator once you receive your itinerary
Cultural Etiquette: When visiting temples or rural villages, ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. A light scarf in your daypack is a great "emergency" cover-up.
