About a week before your trip, you should have received your final itinerary and CISI Medical Insurance via email. Please review this checklist to ensure everything is in order for your Ugandan adventure:
Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
e-Visa: You must apply for and receive your Uganda e-Visa online before you arrive. Print the approval and keep it with your passport.
Yellow Fever Certificate: Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry. You must bring the physical "Yellow Card" to show at immigration.
Insurance: Print your CISI Medical Insurance card and travel with it.
Final Itinerary: Print your final itinerary for quick access to addresses and our 24-hour emergency contact line.
Money: While high-end lodges take cards, Uganda is very cash-heavy. Use ATMs in Entebbe or Kampala for Ugandan Shillings (UGX). Carry small USD bills (dated 2013 or newer) for tips and souvenirs.
Airlines: Verify baggage weight limits, especially for small bush planes.
Tech: Uganda uses Type G (UK-style) three-prong plugs
Phone: Pick up a local SIM (MTN or Airtel) at Entebbe airport or check with your provider for international roaming. e-SIM cards are also recommended.
Gorilla Trekking Gear: You must pack sturdy, waterproof hiking boots, long-sleeved shirts, and long trousers. Check our packing list here.
Plastic Ban: Remember that Uganda has a strict ban on single-use plastic bags. Use reusable dry bags or silicone pouches for your gear.
