There are NO required vaccinations or shots for travel to South Africa; however, you should consult your doctor to assure that all of your immunizations are up-to-date.

Regarding malaria in South Africa, there is known to be malaria in the region. However, the risk is considered low. We recommend that you consult with your local travel clinic for recommended inoculations and whether or not to take malaria prophylaxis for travel to South Africa. Your local travel clinic may have some recommendations specifically for you.

COVID-19 Update September 20, 2023: As you are actively visiting local communities, we highly recommend that you take a COVID test prior to the trip to ensure that you are healthy to travel, however Discover Corps is no longer requiring that you send proof of COVID tests prior to departure.
