Please review the checklist below to ensure you have everything ready for your Galapagos adventure. Entry into the archipelago is highly regulated to protect its delicate ecosystem.
Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.
Digital Biosafety Declaration: No actions needed at this time! When you arrive in Quito, our guide will explain the documents required to fly to the Galápagos Islands. You do not need to complete anything before leaving the U.S., as some forms can only be filled out within 24 hours of arrival on the islands. The form is online, so you will need your phone. The guide will share the link and QR code, and we are also providing the link here. This is a local government website, and it can be slow.
Insurance: Print your CISI Medical Insurance card
Final Itinerary: Print your final itinerary.
Cash: Unlike most mainland destinations, the Galapagos is cash-dependent. Bring some cash with you or use ATM in Quito.
Airlines: Verify baggage weight limits for domestic flights to the islands; they are often stricter than international limits.
Update your Travel Coordinator if your international flight times change.
Tech: Ecuador uses Type A and B plugs (standard US two-prong).
Phone: Connectivity is limited. We recommend an eSIM (like Airalo or others) for mainland Ecuador, but expect little to no signal while cruising the islands.
Pre-Departure Call: Schedule a final conversation with your Trip Coordinator once you receive your itinerary
Biosecurity: Avoid packing any organic materials (fruits, seeds, or untreated wood). Your luggage will be scanned before you depart the mainland.
Packing List: Review our packing list specifically for reef-safe sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and sturdy water shoes for rocky shorelines.
